Empress of the Badlands

I am excited for the Spring 2026 release of Medora: Empress of the Badlands! This upcoming Western, produced by Canticle Productions (a company specializing in true North Dakota stories), tells the captivating true story of the Marquis de Mores and his wife Medora, who attempted to forge a meat-packing empire in 1883 Dakota Territory.

The history of Medora, North Dakota, is particularly dear to my heart, as my Fisher/Lafayette Saga entwines fictitious people into the Manca Amat de Vallombrosa bloodline, as well as Medora's mother's lineage. My series begins in 1962, so while the characters don't interact with the Marquis or Medora, the historical roots run deep.

The main cast is outstanding: Robert Strange (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, The Wheel of Time) stars as the Marquis, opposite Baylee Toney (The Redeemer) as Medora. Toney has truly carved out a niche for herself playing characters in the Wild West, a testament to her love for the genre.
